CP Ojajuni leads security sweep along Ondo border corridor in Nigeria – What We Know

Security chiefs in Ogun State have carried out a high-level joint operational assessment and show of force across the Ogun–Ondo border corridor following the recent arrest of suspects in the area and renewed efforts to tighten security along the axis.
The operation, which covered the Ogun Waterside corridor including Iwopin, Abigi and Ibiade, was aimed at consolidating the gains recorded from recent security interventions, including the arrest of criminal suspects, and sustaining the momentum of “Operation Kosaye” against crime and criminality in the border communities.
The joint exercise was led by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, and the Security Consultant to the Ogun State Governor, CP Edward Ajogun (Rtd.), alongside heads of other security agencies in the state.
Those on the tour included the Commander, 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General J.O. Onu; Director of the Department of State Services in Ogun State, R.A. Adelakun; Ogun State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Remilekun Omolade Ekundayo; Commander of the Ogun State security network, Amotekun Corps, Brigadier General Alade Adedigba (Rtd.); and the State Commander of So-Safe Corps, Dr Soji Ganzallo. Executive chairmen of Ijebu East, Ijebu North East and Ogun Waterside local government areas also participated in the exercise.
The assessment and show of force traversed the Ijebu Ode–Ore Expressway corridor, moving through J2, J3, J4, Itele, Atoyo, Agerige, Ogbere, Ibiade, Iwopin and Abigi, before ending at Ajebandele, the boundary community between Ogun and Ondo states.
Police authorities said the operation was carried out as part of measures to strengthen security presence in the area after the recent arrest of suspects and to prevent a resurgence of criminal activities along the border corridor.
During the exercise, the joint security team assessed vulnerable locations, reviewed the security situation in the affected communities and examined operational requirements needed to sustain pressure on criminal elements operating within the axis.
The operation also served to reinforce inter-agency collaboration, improve intelligence sharing and deepen engagement with residents and stakeholders in the communities, with a view to boosting community-based intelligence and crime prevention.
The show of force was intended to reassure residents and road users of the readiness of security agencies to maintain security dominance in the corridor and respond swiftly to any threat to lives and property.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni commended the cooperation among participating security agencies, local government officials and other stakeholders, saying the synergy was critical to sustaining the successes already recorded in the area.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Ogun State Police Command to continued joint operations, intelligence-led policing and stronger collaboration with communities to ensure that criminal elements do not regain foothold in the Ogun–Ondo border communities.
Ojajuni also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and actionable information to security agencies, noting that public support remains crucial in the fight against crime.
