Anya Chukwu Takes Helm as 12th President of Rotary Club of Ibadan Bodija Estate

Rotarian Anya Chukwu on Saturday took over the leadership of the Rotary Club of Ibadan Bodija Estate as its 12th President, with a pledge to consolidate on the achievements of past administrations and deepen the club’s humanitarian service to the community.
Chukwu assumed office during a handover ceremony held on July 4, 2026, at the Rotary Club House, New Bodija, Ibadan, where the immediate past President, Rotarian Victor Giwa PHF, formally handed over the presidency baton to him before Rotarians, invited guests, friends and family members.
In his acceptance speech, Chukwu thanked members of the club for the confidence reposed in him and promised to provide purposeful leadership in line with Rotary’s ideals of service, fellowship and community development.
He assured members that his administration would build on the gains of previous leaderships while pursuing programmes and projects that would strengthen the club’s impact and expand its humanitarian reach.
The new President also called for unity, commitment and active participation from members, saying the success of the club in the new Rotary year would depend on the collective resolve of all Rotarians to serve and make lasting impact in society.
Earlier, Giwa expressed appreciation to members of the club for their support, loyalty and cooperation throughout his tenure, describing his administration as one driven by teamwork, dedication and commitment to Rotary’s humanitarian cause.
He thanked the Board of Directors, executives and members for their contributions to the club’s programmes and projects during the 2025/2026 Rotary year and urged them to extend the same support to Chukwu to enable him succeed.
The symbolic handover of the presidency baton was one of the highlights of the event, marking the formal transfer of leadership and responsibility for the affairs of the club to Chukwu.
Dignitaries at the ceremony included the Assistant Governor of Rotary District 9126, Rotarian Akindayo Famoyegun,Rotarians from sister clubs, as well as friends and family members, who joined the club in celebrating the outgoing President and welcoming the new helmsman.
The event signalled the end of Giwa’s tenure and the beginning of a new chapter for the Rotary Club of Ibadan Bodija Estate, with members expressing optimism that Chukwu’s leadership would further strengthen the club’s tradition of service above self and community development.
