New president pledges community-focused projects, lasting impact
Rotarian Adewale Akinade has been installed as the 8th President of the Rotary Club of Ibadan Ologuneru, with a pledge to use his tenure to touch lives and deliver projects capable of creating lasting impact in the community.
Akinade’s Investiture was held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Southland Hotel, Ologuneru, Ibadan, in the presence of Rotarians, family members, friends, professional colleagues and other distinguished guests.
His wife, two children and other members of his family were also present to witness the ceremony and celebrate his emergence as the club’s new president.
Speaking after the Investiture, Akinade thanked God for the opportunity to serve and expressed appreciation to members of the club for entrusting him with its leadership.
He described the position as both a privilege and a call to greater service, promising to work with members to advance the club’s humanitarian activities.
Akinade said his administration would operate in line with Rotary International’s Create Lasting Impact theme, focusing its resources on areas including peace promotion, disease prevention, clean water and sanitation, education, maternal and child health, and economic development.
He called for the cooperation of members, Rotary District leaders and partners, stressing that collective effort would be necessary to achieve the club’s objectives.
“Together, let’s continue to unite to create lasting impact, turning every identified community challenge into a compelling success story,” he said.
Leshi urges commitment
The immediate Past President, Rotarian Olusegun Leshi, commended members and partners for their support during his tenure and urged them to sustain their commitment to the club.
Leshi encouraged members to remain active, support The Rotary Foundation, strengthen membership and embrace new ideas capable of improving the club’s community service projects.
The Chairman of the Investiture Ceremony, Rotarian Adeniji Adewale PHF, said the occasion symbolised more than a change of leadership, describing it as a celebration of service, fellowship, commitment and continuity.
Dignitaries, Rotarians honoured
The ceremony featured the presentation of awards to a number of distinguished personalities, including Rotarian Linda Oladapo, MD, immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Ibadan Akobo; Rotarian Oyewole Kazeem Fashina; Rotarian Adewale Adesina, immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Ibadan Elebu Metropolis; Mr Abayomi Alli; Rotarian Adewale Adeniji; and Rotarian Titilayo Abdulasheed Matesun PHF+2.
Among the special guests of honour was His Royal Majesty Oba Gbenga Adigun Adeoye Oyetunji Oyinlola II, Aare Alawo Ekun of Ofiki Land, a Rotarian and past president of the Rotary Club of Ibadan City Central.
Madam Bolanle Aminat Sarumi Aliyu (BASA), a businesswoman and philanthropist, was also recognised as a special guest.
The Chairman of the Occasion was Mr Abimbola Olalere Adekanbi, a public policy expert and the governorship candidate of the Allied People Movement (APM) for the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
Akinade: From Computer Science to Entrepreneurship and Rotary Leadership
Born and raised in Ibadan, Akinade is the son of Elder Abraham and Deaconess Mary Akinade, descendants of the Koloko community in Ibadan, Oyo State.
He attended the community primary school in Ayekale, Agugu, Ibadan, and later Lagelu Grammar School, Agugu.
He studied Computer Science at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, before proceeding to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, where he studied Computer Science and Engineering.
After graduation, he ventured into entrepreneurship and established Wrangler Signature, a fashion merchandising enterprise.
Akinade joined Rotary seven years ago and has served in various capacities within the organisation.
Described by associates as a jolly good fellow and a person widely loved by those around him, Akinade is married and has two children.
His Investiture marks the beginning of his tenure as the 8th President of the Rotary Club of Ibadan Ologuneru, with his administration expected to focus on service, community development and the creation of lasting impact.
