“Technical Tracking Lead Ogun Police to Killers of Ex OGTV Broadcaster, Guard”– CP Ojajuni

The Ogun State Police Command has cracked the gruesome murder of prominent businesswoman, Madam Olakitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, following a painstaking investigation that combined forensic analysis, intelligence gathering and technical tracking.
Addressing journalists at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Thursday, Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, announced the arrest of three suspects linked to the double murder and revealed that the principal suspect had confessed to orchestrating the crime.
The suspects are Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, 22; Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27; and Sobu Obafunsho, 36.
According to the police commissioner, the breakthrough came after detectives recovered a handwritten note allegedly left behind at the crime scene. The document was subjected to forensic examination, generating critical investigative leads that ultimately pointed detectives to the suspects.
CP Ojajuni explained that police swung into action on June 21 after receiving a report of suspicious circumstances at Madam Oyesiku’s residence in Owode-Egba. Detectives who forced entry into the premises discovered the lifeless body of security guard Pelumi Adetayo inside the security post, while Madam Oyesiku was found murdered in a pool of blood inside her residence.
Investigators also discovered that the deceased’s Lexus RX 330 SUV had been stolen from the compound, prompting an intensive manhunt.
Through intelligence-led operations and technical tracking, the police recovered the stolen vehicle the following day. Although the suspects had removed the ignition key and detached the registration plates in an apparent attempt to conceal its identity, detectives found the original plate hidden beneath one of the seats, enabling positive identification of the vehicle.
The police commissioner said further investigation led to the arrest of the principal suspect, Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, on June 24 at a construction site in Ibara GRA, Abeokuta, where he was working as a labourer. Subsequent operations resulted in the arrest of his alleged accomplices, Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, a security guard, and Sobu Obafunsho, a bricklayer.
During interrogation, Philip reportedly confessed to planning and coordinating the attack. According to CP Ojajuni, the suspect admitted recruiting the two other men to participate in the crime and disclosed that he targeted Madam Oyesiku over grievances arising from the period he worked as a security guard in her employment.
“The suspect stated that the murder of Madam Olakitan Oyesiku was intended to teach her a lesson,” the commissioner revealed.
Police said the suspects carried out the attack on June 20, first overpowering security guard Pelumi Adetayo and using him to gain access to the residence before attacking Madam Oyesiku. The guard was later killed after the assailants gained entry.
Following their confessional statements, detectives conducted searches at locations linked to the suspects and recovered several exhibits, including a broken hammer, a cutlass, a plank and a black pen believed to be connected to the crime.
CP Ojajuni commended the professionalism and determination of the investigators whose swift actions led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle, forensic exploitation of evidence and the arrest of all identified suspects within days of the incident.
While noting that the suspects remain entitled to due process, the commissioner assured the public that the Command would ensure diligent prosecution and justice for the victims.
“The Ogun State Police Command remains committed to ensuring that justice is served and that all persons connected with this heinous crime are brought to book,” he said.
