Ogun- Lagos Commands in major Breakthrough with Operation Kosaye Police Rescue Five Kidnap Victims, Arrest 88 Suspects

A joint security operation by the Lagos and Ogun State Police Commands has recorded significant successes with the rescue of five kidnapped victims, the arrest of 88 suspected criminals and the neutralisation of four suspected kidnappers.
The operation, code-named Operation Kosaye (meaning “No Chance”), was launched on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, as part of efforts to dismantle criminal networks, eliminate kidnappers’ hideouts and strengthen security across Lagos and Ogun States.
Addressing journalists at the Police Training College, Iperu, Ogun State, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, disclosed that 84 suspects, comprising 75 males and nine females, were initially arrested during coordinated raids on identified criminal hideouts. Four additional suspected kidnappers were later apprehended during a rescue mission, bringing the total number of arrests to 88.
Ojajuni revealed that security operatives successfully rescued five travellers who had been abducted along the Ore–Ogbere Road following a swift intelligence-led response by the police and other security agencies.
According to him, the operation demonstrates that criminals have no safe haven within Lagos and Ogun States.
“The Inspector-General of Police gave a marching order, and Operation Kosaye moved in. We rescued five kidnapped victims, neutralised four kidnappers and arrested another four in addition to the 84 suspects apprehended across Lagos and Ogun,” he stated.
The police commissioner explained that the exercise enjoyed the full support of the governments of both states and was specifically designed to combat kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry and other violent crimes.
Ojajuni also dismissed reports suggesting that bandits had established camps within forests in Lagos and Ogun States, noting that extensive searches conducted by security personnel found no evidence to support such claims.
He said security teams combed forests and thick vegetation spanning several locations, including Ikeja, Kara Bridge, the RCCG Camp corridor, Iseri, Owode-Egba, Ogere, Ijebu-Igbo, Ijebu-Ode, J4 near the Ondo boundary, Epe, Ikorodu and Ogijo.
During the operation, several criminal hideouts and makeshift camps were dismantled.
Recovered items included AK-47 rifles, pump-action guns, assault rifles, English-made pistols, locally fabricated firearms, ammunition, battle axes, cutlasses and mobile phones believed to have been used in criminal activities.
Ojajuni appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies by providing timely information, particularly regarding individuals with suspicious gunshot wounds or any intelligence capable of assisting ongoing investigations.
Also speaking, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, reassured residents that there was no cause for alarm over reports of bandit infiltration into Lagos and Ogun States.
He stated that security operatives had thoroughly searched forests and identified criminal flashpoints across both states, adding that the operation would continue until all criminal enclaves were completely dismantled.
Fatai reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to safeguarding lives and property, noting that the Inspector-General had directed that the operation be sustained and replicated in other parts of the country.
He further commended the Lagos and Ogun State Governments for their support, which contributed significantly to the success of the joint security operation.
