“NYSC a vital institution for national integration and leadership development “-CP Bode Ojajuni

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, has reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to the safety and welfare of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state, while calling for stronger collaboration between the Police and the Scheme to enhance security and promote responsible citizenship.
CP Ojajuni gave the assurance on Monday when he received the Ogun State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Adewuyi Omolabake Frances, and members of her management team on a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters at Eleweran, Abeokuta. The meeting focused on deepening cooperation in safeguarding corps members, strengthening community policing initiatives and promoting youth development.
Welcoming the delegation, CP Ojajuni described the NYSC as a vital institution for national integration and leadership development, stressing that the Police Command would continue to provide a safe and secure environment for corps members throughout their service year.
The Commissioner urged corps members to be law-abiding, security-conscious and committed to community service, noting that the NYSC uniform should symbolize discipline, patriotism and integrity rather than serve as a shield against the law.
He also highlighted the importance of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), describing the initiative as a proactive strategy aimed at preventing crime through value reorientation, youth engagement and community participation. According to him, the Command is intensifying efforts to expand the campaign across schools and communities in Ogun State.
CP Ojajuni further recalled the recent rescue of 18 corps members who were stranded at night along the Ogbere-Ijebu Ode axis after the commercial vehicle conveying them developed a mechanical fault. He said police operatives responded promptly, evacuated the corps members to safety in Ijebu Ode and ensured their well-being.
“The security of every resident in Ogun State, including corps members, remains our priority. We will continue to strengthen partnerships that promote safety and encourage young people to become responsible citizens,” the Commissioner said.
Earlier, the Ogun State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Adewuyi Omolabake Frances, commended the Ogun State Police Command for its consistent support and prompt response to security concerns involving corps members across the state.
She particularly appreciated the Command’s mentorship, proactive policing and commitment to ensuring the safety of corps members serving in police formations and various local government areas, while pledging the Scheme’s continued cooperation through effective information sharing and collaboration.
The visit concluded with both institutions reaffirming their resolve to sustain a strong working relationship aimed at improving security, promoting youth orientation and fostering peaceful communities across Ogun State.
