Dr. Emmanuel Idowu Olowokere, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, fertility specialist and Medical Director of God’s Knot Hospital and Fertility Centre, Ibadan, has experienced a remarkable season of honour and service, receiving two major Rotary recognitions within one month while also supporting the humanitarian activities of two Rotary clubs with financial contributions.
The medical expert was on Sunday August 23rd installed as an Honorary Member of the Rotary Club of Ibadan Oritamefa, barely two weeks after he received the Distinguished Excellence Award for Outstanding Leadership and Humanitarian Service from the Rotary Club of Ibadan Bodija Estate.
The latest recognition was conferred on Dr. Olowokere during the investiture ceremony of Rotarian Ojo Jimoh as the 12th President of the Rotary Club of Ibadan Oritamefa, held at Gallani Hotels and Suites, Jericho, Ibadan.
Honorary Membership at Oritamefa
At the Oritamefa investiture, Dr. Olowokere, who was accompanied by his wife, was installed as an Honorary Member of the Rotary Club of Ibadan Oritamefa in recognition of his professional excellence, humanitarian contribution and commitment to improving the wellbeing of families and communities.
He had earlier delivered a Maternal and Child Health lecture at the Rotary Club of Ibadan Oritamefa in July titled “Maternal and Child Health: Improving Outcomes Through Quality Healthcare and Community Partnership.”
The lecture focused on the need to strengthen maternal healthcare, improve child survival, enhance access to quality healthcare services and encourage stronger partnerships between healthcare institutions, community organisations and service groups such as Rotary.
At the Rotary Club of Ibadan Bodija Estate, his lecture was titled “Fertility Postponement: Implications for Future Reproductive Outcomes — The IVF and Surrogacy Options.”
Beyond accepting the honorary membership, Dr. Olowokere demonstrated his support for the club’s humanitarian objectives by donating ₦300,000 to the Rotary Club of Ibadan Oritamefa. He also supported the investiture programme with a full-page advertisement in the club’s official investiture brochure.
The gestures added a practical dimension to the recognition, demonstrating his willingness to contribute resources to community-focused projects in addition to sharing his medical expertise.
Jimoh: Olowokere Is a Blessing to Humanity
Conferring the honorary membership on Dr. Olowokere, the President of Rotary Club of Ibadan Oritamefa, Rotarian Ojo Jimoh, described him as “a thorough human being, a philanthropist par excellence, a humanitarian, a compassionate giver and a blessing to humanity.”
Jimoh said Dr. Olowokere had demonstrated an uncommon commitment to service by combining his medical expertise with generosity and humanitarian intervention.
According to him, the doctor’s conduct after delivering his lecture for the club was particularly remarkable, noting that rather than expecting an honorarium for his professional service, he made a substantial contribution to the club.
“I have not seen someone who will deliver a lecture and, instead of expecting to be given an honorarium, give a Sergeant-at-Arms contribution of ₦100,000 to the club,” Jimoh said.
He added that Dr. Olowokere further supported the investiture with a ₦200,000 contribution and a full-page advertisement placement in the investiture brochure, describing the gesture as evidence of his exceptional generosity and commitment to Rotary’s service ideals.
Olowokere: I Will Continue to Serve Humanity
Receiving the honorary membership, Dr. Olowokere expressed appreciation to the President and members of Rotary Club of Ibadan Oritamefa for considering him worthy of joining the club.
He described the honour as a privilege and expressed his readiness to identify with the club’s service-oriented objectives.
Dr. Olowokere assured the club that he would continue to contribute to humanity through his profession, time and resources, stressing his commitment to supporting initiatives that improve the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities.
Before Oritamefa, Bodija Estate Honoured Him
The Oritamefa honour came barely two weeks after Dr. Olowokere received the Rotary Club of Ibadan Bodija Estate Distinguished Excellence Award for Outstanding Leadership and Humanitarian Service.
The award was presented on Sunday, August 9, 2026, during the investiture of Rotarian Anya Chukwu as the 12th President of the Rotary Club of Ibadan Bodija Estate, held at the Rotary Club House, Oluyole Way, New Bodija, Ibadan.
The club recognised Dr. Olowokere for his contributions to fertility treatment, maternal and child healthcare, medical education and humanitarian service, particularly through his work at God’s Knot Hospital and Fertility Centre.
Fertility Lecture at Bodija Estate
Before receiving the award, Dr. Olowokere had delivered a major maternal and child health lecture for the Rotary Club of Ibadan Bodija Estate titled “Fertility Postponement: Implications for Future Reproductive Outcomes — The IVF and Surrogacy Options.”
During the lecture, he examined the medical, social and emotional implications of delaying childbearing, explaining how fertility naturally declines with age and why individuals and couples should make informed reproductive decisions.
He also discussed fertility preservation, in-vitro fertilisation, surrogacy and other assisted reproductive technologies available to people experiencing fertility challenges.
Following the lecture, Dr. Olowokere donated ₦100,000 to Rotary Club of Ibadan Bodija Estate to support the club’s humanitarian projects.
A Month of Double Recognition and Service
The two Rotary engagements have made the period particularly significant for Dr. Olowokere, who has not only been celebrated by two Rotary clubs but has also used both platforms to advance public understanding of fertility, maternal healthcare and child wellbeing.
Through the two engagements, he delivered lectures addressing two critical areas of healthcare — fertility and reproductive health at Bodija Estate, and maternal and child health at Oritamefa.
His financial contributions also demonstrate his commitment to Rotary’s humanitarian objectives. He gave ₦100,000 to Rotary Club of Ibadan Bodija Estate and ₦300,000 to Rotary Club of Ibadan Oritamefa, bringing his direct cash donations to the two clubs to ₦400,000, in addition to sponsoring a full-page advertisement in the Oritamefa investiture brochure.
Dr. Olowokere, a 2002 MBChB graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, trained at LUTH and the University College Hospital, Ibadan, and became a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons in 2014.
As Founder and Chief Medical Director of God’s Knot Hospital and Fertility Centre, Ibadan, he has continued to combine clinical practice with fertility care, maternal healthcare, medical education and community health advocacy.
The hospital’s fertility arm, established about six years ago, has recorded more than 158 babies through IVF and surrogacy, according to figures presented during his Rotary engagements.
For Dr. Olowokere, however, the honours appear to represent more than personal recognition. They have become opportunities to deepen his partnership with Rotary, share medical knowledge with the public and support humanitarian initiatives aimed at improving the lives of mothers, children and families.
His installation as an Honorary Member of the Rotary Club of Ibadan Oritamefa, following the Distinguished Excellence Award from Rotary Club of Ibadan Bodija Estate, therefore marks a remarkable period of recognition and service for the healthcare leader — one in which professional excellence, humanitarian giving and public health advocacy converged under Rotary’s enduring ideal of “Service Above Self.”
