Rotarian Ojo Jimoh Officially Inaugurated as 12th President of Rotary Club of Ibadan Oritamefa

  • Rotarian Ojo Jimoh has been officially inaugurated as the 12th President of the Rotary Club of Ibadan Oritamefa, pledging to lead the club with integrity, strengthen fellowship and membership, and implement initiatives capable of creating lasting impact in the lives of individuals and communities.
Jimoh was officially inaugurated at a colourful ceremony held on September 23 at Gallani Hotels and Suites, Jericho, Ibadan, in the presence of Rotarians, community leaders, professionals, family members, friends and other distinguished guests.
His emergence as the 12th president has been greeted with goodwill from fellow Rotarians, friends and associates, who expressed confidence in his capacity to provide purposeful leadership and advance the club’s commitment to humanitarian service.

  • A Leader Driven by Service and Integrity
  • Speaking after his inauguration, Jimoh expressed appreciation to God for life, strength and the rare privilege of taking up the mantle of leadership of the club.
He also thanked members for the confidence reposed in him, assuring them that he would not take their trust for granted.
“Thank you for the trust and your belief in my capacity to lead, to serve and to represent us with integrity. I do not take it for granted. I stand on the shoulders of giants.
“To our Charter President and every past president who laid the foundation we now build upon, I honour you. To the members who nominated me, mentored me, corrected me and stood with me, this moment belongs to you as much as it belongs to me.
“And to my family, who will share me with Rotary for the next twelve months, thank you for your sacrifice, your patience and unwavering support,” he said.
The new president emphasised that Rotary was not merely a social gathering but a movement committed to service and community transformation.
According to him, the Rotary theme for the year, “Create Lasting Impact,” should not be treated as a phrase printed on banners, but as a standard every Rotarian must strive to live by.
Jimoh said creating lasting impact involved “showing up when no one is watching,” solving problems that might not directly belong to Rotarians and providing hope to vulnerable people and communities.
He identified child healthcare, water and sanitation, maternal and child health and education as areas where Rotarians could make meaningful contributions to society.
“One hundred and one years ago, Paul Harris gave us one radical idea: that people of goodwill, working together, can transform their communities. That idea is alive; it lives in this room,” he said.
  • Vision for Impact
  • Outlining the priorities of his administration, Jimoh said his team would pursue growth through impactful fellowship capable of attracting young professionals and emerging leaders into Rotary service.
He also pledged to strengthen The Rotary Foundation through 100 per cent membership participation, stressing that every Rotarian would be encouraged to become a contributor.
He called for the support and cooperation of members, friends and families of the club in achieving the programmes and projects planned for the Rotary year.
Jimoh also expressed appreciation to the District Governor for his leadership and guidance.
For Jimoh, the presidency represents more than an honour. It is a call to responsibility and an opportunity to inspire fellow Rotarians, mobilise resources, build partnerships and translate Rotary’s ideals into tangible interventions.
  • Leadership Beyond the Rotary Club
  • Jimoh’s leadership journey reflects the central philosophy of Rotary, “Service Above Self.” His involvement in Rotary has positioned him among individuals committed to addressing community needs and supporting initiatives that promote human welfare.

His profile also reflects engagement beyond the Rotary environment, combining professional participation, community involvement and voluntary service.

  • Earlier, the immediate past president, Rotarian Olatunde Ogundiran, delivered his handover address, highlighting the achievements recorded during his tenure.
Ogundiran reviewed the activities and accomplishments of his administration before formally handing over the leadership of the club to Jimoh.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Rotarian Jegede Oladele John, said the occasion went beyond celebrating a change of leadership.
He described the ceremony as a demonstration of responsibility, accountability, leadership and service, stressing that leadership in Rotary was fundamentally about serving others.
  • Distinguished Guests Grace Ceremony
  • The event had Distinguished Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli as the Special Guest of Honour, while Architect Mobolaji Adeniyi served as the Mother of the Day.
Engineer Olumualade Ajibola, FNSE, was the Father of the Day, while Dr. Rotarian David Akinpelu served as Chairman of the Day.
Other guests included members of the Old Students Association of Owo High School, members of the Ibira community, engineers, Rotarians, friends and family members, among others.
Highlights of the ceremony included the induction of new members, presentation of awards and fundraising to support the club’s projects and humanitarian initiatives.
Among the new honorary members inducted during the event was Dr. Idowu Olowokere, founder and Chief Executive Officer of God’s Knot Hospital and Fertility Centre, Ibadan.
  • The Man Behind the Office
  • Beyond the ceremonial regalia and responsibilities of the presidency, Jimoh is regarded as a Rotarian who values fellowship, relationships and collective action.
His leadership philosophy is rooted in the belief that meaningful change is achieved when people come together around a common purpose. This philosophy aligns with his vision of building a stronger club whose members are actively involved in service and community development.
As he leads the Rotary Club of Ibadan Oritamefa, the success of his administration will be measured not only by the programmes it organises, but by the lives touched, partnerships created and sustainable projects delivered to communities.
His official inauguration as the 12th President therefore marks a new chapter in the club’s service journey — one expected to be defined by leadership, compassion, collaboration and a commitment to “Create Lasting Impact.”
