Two Weeks of Operation KOSAYE: Ogun CP Ojajuni vows more crackdown as operatives arrest 43 more suspects, total prosecutions rise to 76

Just two weeks after the launch of Operation KOSAYE, the Ogun State Police Command has sustained its offensive against criminal elements with the arrest and prosecution of 43 additional suspects during a raid on a notorious criminal hideout in Isheri-Olofin along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, bringing the total number of suspects prosecuted under the operation to 76.
The latest operation, carried out by operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit, targeted a location opposite the Kara Cattle Market following credible intelligence that the area was being used for cult-related activities, drug abuse, prostitution and other criminal activities.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the raid, conducted at about 11:00 p.m. on July 7, resulted in the arrest of 28 men and 15 women.
Recovered during the operation were substances suspected to be Indian hemp, “Loud” and other hard drugs, 10 mobile phones, four power banks, a rechargeable hand fan, and a cross-body bag containing two ATM cards and a National Identity Card.
Babaseyi said all 43 suspects have been charged to court and remanded in the appropriate correctional facility. They are facing charges including criminal conspiracy, membership of an unlawful society, unlawful assembly, disorderly conduct, unlawful possession and use of suspected cannabis, prostitution, and operating an unlicensed brothel.
He added that some of the suspects are providing useful information to investigators on other criminal cases, while follow-up operations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal network.
The police spokesperson noted that the latest prosecution followed the earlier arraignment of 33 suspects during the initial phase of Operation KOSAYE. With the 43 suspects charged after the recent raid, the total number of suspects prosecuted by the Ogun State Police Command since the operation commenced has now risen to 76.
Commending the SWAT operatives for their professionalism and resilience, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, described the latest raid as another significant milestone in the implementation of Operation KOSAYE.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining the operation, warning that criminal hideouts, drug joints, brothels used as fronts for illegal activities and cult enclaves would continue to be identified and dismantled across Ogun State until the state is rid of criminal elements.
