CP Ojajuni intensifies anti-kidnapping war as Ogun police neutralise two abductors, rescue Okun Owa prince

The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, has again reinforced his growing profile as a hard-hitting crime fighter, as operatives of the Ogun State Police Command neutralised two suspected kidnappers linked to the abduction of the Prince of Okun Owa, Prince Idris, and recovered an AK-47 rifle, mobile phones and other incriminating exhibits.
The latest breakthrough came amid a series of intensified anti-kidnapping operations under Ojajuni’s leadership, which have recently led to the arrest of suspected kidnappers and the rescue of abducted victims across parts of Ogun State.
Prince Idris was abducted on June 30, 2026, when gunmen reportedly stormed his residence in Okun Owa at about 7:30 p.m. and whisked him away, sparking tension in the community.
Following the report of the abduction, CP Ojajuni immediately ordered the activation of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit and other tactical teams, directing them to ensure the victim’s safe release and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Police sources said the Command mounted sustained intelligence-led pressure on the gang, a move that eventually led to the safe release of the prince on July 3, 2026, without injury.
Not satisfied with the victim’s release alone, the police command launched a fresh manhunt for the abductors. Acting on credible intelligence, operatives stormed the Agoro/Imodi axis, where the gang members were believed to be hiding.
The suspects reportedly engaged the operatives in a gun duel, but the police overpowered them, neutralising two of the kidnappers, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said a search conducted on the neutralised suspects led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine, two mobile phones, a bag suspected to be meant for ransom collection, and other exhibits linked to the kidnapping operation.
The police added that the bodies of the neutralised suspects had been deposited in a government morgue for autopsy, while efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing gang members and recover more weapons and exhibits.
The development is the latest in a string of security breakthroughs recorded by the Ogun State Police Command in recent weeks under CP Ojajuni’s watch, particularly in the areas of kidnapping, violent crime and organised criminal activity.
Only recently, the Command recorded successful operations that led to the rescue of kidnapped victims and the arrest of suspects in different parts of the state, further underscoring what many now describe as a renewed operational push against criminal elements in Ogun.
Commending the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and other tactical teams involved in the latest operation, Ojajuni praised their courage, professionalism and resilience, saying the command would not relent until kidnapping gangs and other violent criminal networks were dismantled.
He reassured residents of Ogun State that the Command remained committed to intelligence-led policing and aggressive tactical operations aimed at safeguarding lives and property.
The commissioner also urged members of the public to continue to support the police with credible and timely information, stressing that community cooperation remains vital in the ongoing war against kidnappers and other criminal elements in the state..
