Ogun CP Ojajuni Commends gallant Anti-Kidnapping Operatives After Neutralization of Suspected Kingpin

The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, has praised operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Ogun State Police Command following the successful operation that led to the neutralization of a suspected kidnapping kingpin along the Abeokuta–Ibadan Expressway.
Ojajuni described the operatives’ actions as gallant, professional, and courageous, reiterating the command’s determination to rid Ogun State of kidnapping and other violent crimes.
The police commissioner gave the commendation after operatives, acting on intelligence, stormed a criminal hideout in the Orile Ilugun Forest axis on May 19, 2026. According to the command, the suspects engaged the police team in a gun duel, during which the alleged gang leader was killed, while other members escaped with gunshot injuries.
Police spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the operation followed intensified efforts to apprehend members of a kidnapping syndicate linked to the abduction of a victim near Nufats Fuel Station on the Abeokuta–Ibadan Expressway.
Items recovered from the scene included an AK-47 rifle loaded with 20 rounds of 5.6mm ammunition, ₦2 million suspected to be ransom proceeds, and two mobile phones.
Ojajuni assured residents that the command would continue to sustain aggressive operations against criminal elements across the state. He also called on members of the public to support security agencies with timely and credible information capable of aiding crime prevention and investigation.
The commissioner further urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines, stressing that public cooperation remains vital in the fight against insecurity.
