Abducted Oyo School Principal Pleads for Rescue as Security Forces Intensify Search

Anxiety has continued to spread across Oyo State following the abduction of students and teachers from schools in Oriire Local Government Area, as the principal of one of the affected schools appealed passionately for government intervention from captivity.
The principal of Community High School, Esiele, Mrs. Rachael Alamu, appeared in a distress video on Sunday, calling on the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and Nigerians to help secure the safe release of the victims.
Mrs. Alamu and several others were reportedly abducted on Friday after armed men invaded LA Primary School and Community Grammar School in Ahoro-Esiele community around 9:30 a.m.
In the emotional video, the principal said the attackers took both staff members and students during the raid.
“We were attacked by a certain group of people, and a good number of us were abducted,” she said. “I am asking everyone to come to our help and settle these things peacefully so that our lives will not be lost.”
The attack reportedly claimed the life of a teacher, while two vice principals, three teachers, and an unspecified number of students were also taken away by the gunmen.
Meanwhile, the Oyo State Government says security operatives have launched coordinated rescue efforts and sealed off escape routes believed to be linked to the abductors.
The Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, said security agencies had confined the suspected kidnappers within the National Park axis to prevent them from fleeing into neighboring states.
According to the commissioner, personnel from the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Civil Defence Agro Rangers, Amotekun Corps, and local hunters have been deployed to the affected area.
Authorities said patrol operations intensified after intelligence reports suggested the abductors were still hiding within the forested region of Oyo State.
However, officials admitted that the exact number of abducted students remains unclear, as school authorities are still compiling records of missing pupils.
Residents of the affected communities have expressed fear over the growing insecurity in rural areas, while parents continue to wait anxiously for updates on the rescue operation.
The incident adds to the growing concerns over attacks on schools and kidnappings in parts of Nigeria, especially in remote communities with limited security presence.
