“We remain committed to ensuring adequate security for Chinese nationals and the protection of their business interests across Ogun State.”
These were the assurances given by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, during a courtesy visit by officials of the Chinese Consulate to the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.
Ojajuni said the command would continue to strengthen security around critical infrastructure, industrial corridors, and investment hubs through intelligence-led policing and proactive crime prevention strategies aimed at safeguarding economic activities and boosting investor confidence.
The delegation from the Chinese Consulate was led by the Deputy Consular-General, Mr. Wang Yue, who visited the command as part of efforts to deepen diplomatic relations and strengthen security collaboration between both parties.
Speaking during the meeting, the police commissioner described Nigeria and China as longstanding partners that have enjoyed over 55 years of diplomatic relations and mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, investment, and development.
He also referenced his previous appointment as Commissioner of Police, INTERPOL Annex, Lagos (National Central Bureau), noting that the experience enhanced his understanding of international policing and strengthened collaboration in addressing transnational security matters.
Ojajuni stressed the strategic importance of Chinese investments and industrial operations within Ogun State, assuring the delegation of sustained police visibility and improved operational support for businesses operating in the state.
In a statement issued after the visit, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed that the Chinese Consulate donated communication equipment, including walkie-talkies, to the Ogun State Police Command to improve emergency response and operational coordination.
Mr. Wang Yue also presented a congratulatory letter to CP Ojajuni on behalf of the Chinese Consulate, commending his appointment and expressing confidence in his leadership, professionalism, and extensive policing experience.
The Deputy Consular-General praised the Ogun State Police Command for its professionalism and sustained efforts in maintaining peace and security, particularly in areas hosting Chinese businesses and investments.
He expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded the delegation and reaffirmed the Consulate’s readiness to continue collaborating with the command.
The visit further reinforced the strong diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and China, while underscoring the importance of sustained security cooperation in promoting peaceful coexistence and economic growth.
