CP Ojajuni Commends Traditional Rulers’ Support, Calls for Timely Intelligence to Strengthen Community Policing

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, has applauded traditional rulers across Ifo for their unwavering support of the Nigeria Police Force, stressing that effective policing can only be achieved through active community participation and the timely sharing of credible intelligence. He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information to security agencies to prevent crime and sustain peace across Ogun State.
The Commissioner made the call during his statewide familiarization tour to the Ifo Area Command, a strategic engagement aimed at strengthening intelligence-led policing, deepening collaboration with key stakeholders, and consolidating security across the state.
As part of the visit, CP Ojajuni paid courtesy visits to the Olu of Itori, HRM Oba Abdulfatai Akorede Akamo, and the Olorile of Orile Ifo, HRM Oba Abdul Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi. The traditional rulers commended the Commissioner for his proactive leadership and commitment to improving security in Ogun State, while assuring him of their continued cooperation in maintaining peace and order within their domains.
Responding, CP Ojajuni expressed appreciation to the monarchs for their confidence in the Police and reaffirmed that traditional institutions remain indispensable partners in intelligence gathering and crime prevention. He noted that the successes recorded under Operation Kosaye were made possible through strong community collaboration and urged residents to sustain their support by volunteering credible and timely information on suspicious activities.
The Commissioner later addressed a stakeholders’ meeting at the Ifo Area Command Headquarters hosted by the Area Commander, ACP Williams Oluwaseyi. The meeting was attended by the Executive Chairman of Ifo Local Government, Hon. Idris Olalekan Kusimo, the Ogun State Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Comrade Abdullah Lawal, traditional rulers, and representatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), So-Safe Corps, Forest Guards, and other security agencies.
CP Ojajuni commended the strong synergy among security agencies in Ifo, describing their collaboration as instrumental in maintaining peace despite the area’s strategic importance and security challenges.
He reiterated that Ogun State would remain a hostile environment for criminals, assuring residents that the Police Command would continue to strengthen intelligence gathering, coordinated operations, and border security to ensure that criminal elements have no safe haven.
Highlighting the Nigeria Police Force’s non-kinetic crime prevention strategy, the Commissioner introduced stakeholders to the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), urging communities to embrace the initiative in steering youths away from crime through advocacy, education, mentorship, and positive engagement.
He also encouraged members of the public to utilize the Gateway Shield security platform to report suspicious activities, assuring them that every credible report would receive prompt attention from the Police.
Addressing officers and personnel of the Area Command, CP Ojajuni charged them to uphold discipline, professionalism, integrity, and respect for human rights while carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.
He reaffirmed that the Ogun State Police Command under his leadership would continue to prioritize intelligence-led policing, community partnership, and proactive security strategies to safeguard lives, property, and investments across the state.
Speaking on behalf of the local government, Hon. Idris Olalekan Kusimo commended CP Ojajuni’s leadership and pledged the council’s continued support for the Police and other security agencies in sustaining peace and security throughout the Ifo axis.
